Remember even the well trained have accidental discharges but if you follow the 4 rules of gun saftey all should be ok:

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

The American Form of Government

Please take a few minutes to watch this video, it is about ten minutes long. This is where we are headed as a country if we don't regain control and return our country to a Republic.

Guns in National parks

Well as of Monday February 22 2010 Federal parks will allow legal citizens to carry firearms in federal parks. From the NRA-ILA:

"End nears for 94-year-old ban on Right-to-Carry in national parks

A new law will lift the 94 year old ban on carrying loaded firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges when it goes into effect Monday. The law, passed by Congress in May as an amendment to a credit reform bill, will end the ability of the National Park Service to set its own gun carry restrictions, making each park subject to the gun laws of its home state."

"U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announces firearms rule change for possession in National Wildlife Refuges

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today announced that effective February 22, 2010, the rules governing possession of firearms on National Wildlife Refuges will change as a result of legislation enacted by Congress. After this date, the law allows an individual to lawfully possess a firearm within the boundaries of a national wildlife refuge in accordance with federal, state and local firearms laws."

Some would consider this a victory for gun rights, but I consider it a slap in the face of the Constitution. Why would I say this you ask. I Say this because the The Constitution of the United States comprises the primary law of the U.S. Federal Government. It also describes the three chief branches of the Federal Government and their jurisdictions. In addition, it lays out the basic rights of citizens of the United States. The Constitution of the United States is the oldest Federal constitution in existence and was framed by a convention of delegates from twelve of the thirteen original states in Philadelphia in May 1787. The Constitution is the landmark legal document of the United States.

With that being said The federal Government has been in violation of it's only governing document by preventing the citizens of the United States of America from exercising one of their basic rights, the right to keep and bear arms. By making it against the law to have a firearm in a federal park our own Government was violating one of our constitutional rights.

By changing the law as of 2-22-2010 the Government is only coming into compliance with it's own governing document the US Constitution. So I do not consider this a victory for gun rights but a victory for all US citizens. We have been given back one of our basic right as provided in The US constitution.

As of Monday, guns will be allowed in all but about 20 of the park service's 392 locations, including some of its most iconic parks: Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains, Yosemite and Rocky Mountain National Park. Guns will not be allowed in visitor centers or rangers' offices, because firearms are banned in federal buildings, but they could be carried into private lodges or concession stands, depending on state laws.

From Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign:
"It really is sad that we've become such a paranoid society that people want to take guns pretty much everywhere — including national parks"

Bill Wade, president of the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees, called the new law a sad chapter in the history of the park system.

"People go to national parks to get away from things that they face in their everyday living, where they live and work. Now I think that social dynamic is really going to change," he said.

The National Park Service said there were 3,760 reported major crimes, including five homicides and 37 rapes, in 2008, the most recent year for which data was available.

So anti-gun people will try to lead you to believe that guns in the hands of legal law abiding citizens will be a bad thing. They don't believe in our God given right to life. They think we should all be innocent victims, they try to maintain the "GUN FREE" killing zones that crazy homicidal killers seek out to do harm to unarmed victims.

Let's be real I would much prefer to see people walking trails with a sidearm than to see a group of men wanting to do harm to me or my family on a trail and all I have for defense is a stick or a rock. Because they know I as a law abiding citizen would not have a firearm on me. The very laws the the anti-gunners push as trying to keep guns out of the hands of criminals are really meant to disarm law abiding citizens.

A convicted felon cannot legally own a firearm but yet they commit crimes with them. The city of Chicago IL, has some of the countries most stringent gun laws and In 2005, 75% of murders involved a firearm(wikipedia). In a city where it is illegal to own a handgun how can 75% of the murders committed there be by a gun? It is because gun laws only work on those who choose to abide by them.

Criminals don't follow any laws so gun control laws do nothing to prevent violent felons from committing violent crimes with guns. The gun control laws only make law abiding citizens into victims.

Glock Gen 4

Range Report Day 2:

Well I made a call to Glock and spoke to a technician there. He suggested that I try different ammo, his recommendation was to try CCI Blazer aluminum case and Federal Premium. I reminded him of the ammo shortage and he was sympathetic but told me if the new ammo did not function that I was to call him back and he would arrange to have the gun sent back to Glock for repair.

Well all I could find was Federal American Eagle 115 grain and some Mag Tech 115 grain and some Winchester White Box 115 grain. Now keep in mind that the Mag Tech I had was some old left over ammo that has been wet, I only kept it to shoot in the yard.

So off to the range we go, I load up the Glock's 17 rnd mags with the WWB and fire away. 2 mags both functioned perfectly so now I am thinking it may have been an ammo problem. So I load up some of the American Eagle and again 34 rnds no FTF's. On to the Mag Tech, I had a few FTF's with the Mag Tech ammo but I am chalking that up to the ammo having been wet. All in all I put nearly 200 rnds through the Glock with only one FTF with the Winchester white box and a around 10 FTF's with the Mag Tech.

One thing the Tech from Glock did tell me was not to shoot reloads in the Glock. He said that it would void the warranty from Glock if there was a problem. He also told me that some ammo is loaded lighter since it is meant for target shooting and reduced recoil. He said to avoid anything marked target ammo in the Gen 4 Glock.

The accuracy was good just as all Glocks are, but I am not happy with a Glock that is finicky about the ammo it eats. Normally Glocks gobble up any ammo and just shoot and shoot. The feel was nice with the new slimmer grip and the new stippling. I had my wife fire it and She said the recoil was light but it felt to big for her hand.

So as it stands right now my recommendation would be to stick with your Gen 3 Glocks til the Gen 4's have all the kinks worked out of them.

Range Report: "GLOCK 17 GEN 4"

I recently purchased a Glock Generation 4 model 17, I was looking forward to taking it to the range. I listen to many different gun related podcast's and one in particular that I enjoy is Michael Bane. He was recently at SHOT show and had the chance to shoot a Generation 4 Glock 17. Now let me say that I have owned several Glocks and they all shoot, you pull the trigger and they go BANG! Did I shoot them well? Not really I tend to pull the shots to the left in a Glock.

So After listening to Michael Bane's podcast I decided I had to have an new gen 4 Glock. From Michael's Podcast "the 4th Generation Glock, which he says is sweet sweet sweet". So I went to my Local Gun shop and found that they had one (534.99 plus tax and 10.00)and now I have one. I carried my new Gun to the range intent on cutting one hole in my target.

Let me give you some details on the new Glock, there is the new dual recoil spring, the changeable mag release for left handed or right handed people. New texture to the grip, backstaps that you can add to make the grip larger. There is a larger mag release button, it comes with three hi cap mags instead of two. The same Glock safe action trigger with a 5.5 lb pull. So that is the quick and sleazy details of the new Gen 4, there is still not alot of information out there about them.

Now off to the range. When I arrived at the range I had intended to shoot 250 rnds through the new Glock so I purchased a 250rnd box of 115 grain reloads. I loaded 2 of the three mags and took aim at my target 10 yards away. My first shot hit center target to the left. I though here I go with the left pull on the Glock again. My next shot hit center target. WOW I actually hit the bulls eye with a Glock Michael must have been right about this new miracle Glock.

My next round hit center target a tad high, what just happened? My new Glock jammed??? Yes it did I had a FTF (failure to feed), that is strange for a Glock. So over the next 80 or so rounds I had multiple FTF's I found this strange since I have never had a Glock that would not shoot. I have a G32 in .357 sig that I have never cleaned in the 8 years I have had it and it still goes BANG when I pull the trigger.

So I headed home to do some internet research. I found a few posts and articles about this problem on the Gen4 G17 and most of the answers were that the shooter must be limp wristing the gun. Now let me start by saying I have never limp wristed any thing. I have shot many guns of all types and sizes and never once a limp wristed shot. So I take issue with people saying that someone is limp wristing a gun. First of all a gun should shoot even though you don't have a perfect two hand grip and a nice weaver stance.

If you are fighting someone for your life you can't stop and tell them wait just a minute while I get a manly hold on my gun. A gun should fire if you can get your hand on it and pull the trigger. If it won't how can you trust your life with it?

After doing some more research it seems that Glock in it's infinite wisdom has put the same recoil spring in the G17 as is in the G22. The difference being the G17 is firing a 115 to 147 grain projectile and the G22 is firing a 135 to 200 grain projectile. So the recoil spring may be a bit heavy for the lighter loads of the 9mm. as you can see in the picture the slide appears to be short cycling and not catching the rim of the round. It is hitting in front of the rim and pushing the nose of the round up and the rim down causing a FTF.

So all in all I like the look and feel of the new Glock it shoots well with very manageable recoil. I will be calling Glock tomorrow to see what they have to say. Stay tuned for Their answer.

Take someone shooting you may just convert the Liberal.
